An important first for Bossaball: the release of an official club in The Netherlands that was witnessed by hundreds of spectators who were invited or paid a visit out of curiosity.
This great day took place on the 3rd of April in Utrecht. On behalf of the city the municipal councillor Rinda den Besten was given the honour of opening Bossaball Utrecht by an extraordinary successful kick-off.
Surrounded by cameras of Dutch national and local press Den Besten told the reporters that Bossaball is a very sufficient tool to let youth gain more interest in playing sports, especially after the age of twelve years old. “That's one of the reasons why the city council of Utrecht supports Bossaball. It has proven his potential already.”
Wilco Nijland, international manager of bossaball, is 'over the moon' by the developments in Utrecht. “First of all by the fact that people can actually train on a weekly basis. But secondly, I am very pleased about the attention paid to bossaball by the Dutch media. It seems like our good work is paying off and I am thrilled about that.”

The new Bossaball club lies within the facilities of the stadion Galgenwaard, the same great location which also accommodates Bossaball’s international HQ office. Stadion Galgenwaard is a football stadium with a capacity of nearly 24,500 spectators that has been the home of the football club FC Utrecht since 1970.
